Painted in 1993, the Vision of Angels mural in Goose Green, East Dulwich/Peckham has been a local attraction and a source of pride and inspiration to the community that created it. Stan Peskett, the artist who conceived the image---a representation of William Blake as a child, having a vision of angels---worked with local schools and community members to create the original mural. Painted under the auspices of the Dulwich Festival, with the generous help of many, the wall has been a notable feature of Goose Green for over 15 years.

Over time, exposed to the elements and the occasional act of vandalism, the condition of the mural has steadily degraded. Unsatisfied with the temporary solution, painting out the lower section of the mural, some concerned citizens began to call for restoration of their beloved landmark.

Now, the Southwark Council and muralist Stan Peskett have conspired to revitalize the mural, bringing the inspiration of William Blake forward into the new millennium. Peskett, returning to the UK from his northern California home, is once again collaborating with local schools, community groups, and artists (including his daughter, painter Georgia Peskett) to renew the image. Over the next few months, much work will take place on and near Goose Green, culminating in a fully restored Vision of Angels mural, featuring a newly themed River of Life as its central image. The reworked and reborn mural will be unveiled on May 10th, as part of the festivities of this year’s Dulwich Festival.
